VPM Error Message
HP,
Could someone enlighten me as to what the following message might actually mean.
Summary: Failed to notify device
Notify Details: notifyex started.brrexec: itsmpr1.net.ad.wcc.govt.nz:3465 - radskman mname=RADIA,dname=PATCHMGR,ip=10.7.39.52,port=3464,ask=N,jobid=20041215094417 - attempt 1.brrexec: itsmpr1.net.ad.wcc.govt.nz:3465 - radskman mname=RADIA,dname=PATCHMGR,ip=10.7.39.52,port=3464,ask=N,jobid=20041215094417 - attempt 2.brrexec: itsmpr1.net.ad.wcc.govt.nz:3465 - radskman mname=RADIA,dname=PATCHMGR,ip=10.7.39.52,port=3464,ask=N,jobid=20041215094417 - attempt 3.brcompleted: connection refused [error] {connection refused}
Is this an error trying to get to the VPM Database? I checked the Services and the SQL Instance seems to be running for the VPM

Re: VPM Error Message
Under the covers VPM uses technology from RADIA patch manager (from HP's acquisition of Novadigm earlier this year). That'll help explain some of the message.
There's 2 theories running around about why:
- RADIA patch manager expects to pick up a valid OS account/password combo from HP SIM from the first line of WBEM credentials in Global Protocol Settings. The connection it makes is not through WBEM or WMI, and also not through SSH, but the credentials get picked up here. If you have a lesser user configured for WBEM because all you used to use it for was for monitoring, you now have to have a higher level account that can install software and run stuff.
- Secondly, what it's trying to do is talk to the RADIA notify daemon. Check to see if the client brrexec has that process running under services.
