WBEM Passwords

Hi All

I have forgotten my webem password for administrator on one of the servers that was managed by HP SIM and on another server the message appears that there were no webem passwords set at the time of installation.

Kindly help me in this matter
Thankyou to all those pros out there

Re: WBEM Passwords

You can copy the c:\compaq\wbem\cpqhmmd.acl file from a Server where you know the password to one where you do not if yo're referring to the HP Management Agents Homepage password.

On the other hand, WBEM Access as configured by either the Global or System Propoerties Options uses either Local Server or Domain Access accounts and passwords.

Re: WBEM Passwords

are wbem user ids and passwords necessary to use SIM 4.2?

We are doing a new install, and I havent configured this yet..

Re: WBEM Passwords

Depends on what you're hoping to gather information from.
In our Windows / HP Proliant infrastructure WBEM is not required. You need to ensure SNMP and Trusts are set up though.
WBEM seems to be required for the new VPM. It's also used if you want to gather information from other Server types.

Re: WBEM Passwords

ok thanks
we are running an all HP server type shop, and have no intention of using the VPM.

So I guess we are okay with just using snmp and setting up the trusts properly
