WWN Numbers

I have several servers with Emulex HBA's in but am unable to find a way to report the WWN numbers on these cards from Insight Manager.

Do I need extra MIB's?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Re: WWN Numbers

Do you mean using the Reports Option or just to be able to see the details from IM?
For the latter from the System Management Home Page go to: Storage / External Storage Connections.

It doesn't look as though it's information available from the supplied Reports, I don't know if this info is stored in the database, you may be able to extract it directly from there.

Re: WWN Numbers

I basically am at a site that has a couple of brocade switches (compaq switch 16's). None of the cables have been labelled so I can list ports to wwn numbers from the switch but need to work out what server is plugged into what, preferably without having to trace the cables!

I assumed that as the cards are HP/Compaq rebranded Emulex cards, that this kind of info would be avaliable through IM but maybe not? I not it would certainly be helpful to have this info in the same way you can get IP/MAC addresses listed through IM.

There is also a SAN Management 2 box as well but I can't seem to find this info under HP Openview on that either.

The servers are a mixture of ML/DL G2/G3's currently running 6.40 Agents.

Re: WWN Numbers

If they are the Emulex rebranded HBA's there's also the lputilnt utility that should be installed on most SAN Connected Proliant Servers.
You should just be able to use the Run Command. Select Configuration Data.

Not sure about the later SAN Switches but with our 2/16EL's you can then browse to the switch, or telnet to it. You can then see which WWN the Port is connected to.

This should give you both ends of the connection.

Re: WWN Numbers

Thanks, I ended up doing this but wanted to try and avoid having to log on to 20+ servers.
