Yet more trouble with SIM

Its been working fine, now I have noticed about 6 servers are shown as unknown SNMP device. Its showning SNMP as working cos I have a green tick against it.

When I clock on the device and log in, its showing the server name as NULL.

Nothing has changed, random servers are affected.

Any ideas?

Re: Yet more trouble with SIM

If server type is shown as "NULL" I have noticed this is often due to a config error in the Version Control Agent. Restart the VCA service and then refresh the SMH and check if Null is not replaced with correct system. For me this works at all times.

On the other hand I have also major problems with devices being "undiscovered", i.e. they have proper info on let's say monday, then on tuesday they're seen as "unknown" or "unmanaged", and on wednesday the scheduled identify task runs and so they're back to normal again for a few days until the error reappears.
Got no ideas on that one yet unfortunately.

Re: Yet more trouble with SIM

Tried that, no change. Can't believe how troublesome this software is. Just as I get it working as I want it, it breaks for no reason.

Does anyone from HP ever read this forum?
