DL360 Gen9 cannot detect SATADOM device?

I got a DL360 Gen9 server which BIOS is version 2.76 and is currently in UEFI mode.

the H240ar smart controller is installed and working on HBA mode to detect some SAS and sata disks.

Now i had a brand new SATADOM device(the type is pin 8+pin 7 on sata interface therefore no additional power cable) installed in the server board's sata port 4, as shown in figure in the HPE webpage below.

https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=emr_na-c04444501

when I boot up the server and try to install OS to the SATADOM, this SATADOM device just cannot be detected by server board or the OS installer.

quite surprising...

does anyone know why a SATADOM deivce cann't be recognized by system?

is it possibly due to power? compatibility?BIOS setting?control card setting?or other strange reasons?

by the way, the "Enabling Embedded SATA Support" setting in the BIOS had already been configured with "Enable SATA AHCI Support" by default.

Hello Komer,

Thank you for posting your query.

Looking at the description, I think this is possibly due to Power.

Please have a look at the image attached for reference.

Re: DL360 Gen9 cannot detect SATADOM device?

Hi there, I had a confusing doubt,

Does gen9 server's board offer the 5v power socket for SATA interface?

(The SATA interface in the figure that you posted seems different from th Gen 9 or even Gen 10 proliant servers' board?)

Re: DL360 Gen9 cannot detect SATADOM device?

Hello

thanks for answering my question.

However, I don't see any power pin interfaces on the Gen9 motherboard to supply power for SATADOM device.

is the power interface hiding somewhere?

Hello Komer,

Thank you for sharing the details.

Probably there isn't one available on the board.

Please advise what is the model of the SATADOM device.

Also try any other SATA port on the board (SATA port 5) if available.

Thank you
