HPE DL380 Gen11 smart array controller
Hello,
we need to configure a DL380 Gen11, we need to connect a MSA 2062 SAS.
In our HPE B2B portal we see that only one controller with external lanes is avaiable, the
804398-B21 - HPE Smart Array E208e-p SR Gen10 (8 External Lanes/No Cache) 12G SAS PCIe Plug-in Controller
This controller has no cache so we may have performance issues with it, do you know if this is real ?
Only one controller with external lanes and no cache is available for 380 Gen 11 ???

Re: HPE DL380 Gen11 smart array controller
Hi,
Looks like this question was asked previously in another portal some months ago and the same has been copy/pasted here.
For your reference, you may check the QuickSpecs for both the products. Also refer to the MSA installation guide.

Re: HPE DL380 Gen11 smart array controller
Have same config but with DL385 gen11. The MSA2062 has its own flash-backed controller cache (8GB I believe), the e208 simply acts as passthru. Our r/w performance is outstanding - better than internal SAS drives with SR932 or MR408 controller.
