HPE Server Memory Configurator broken

It looks as if the HPE Server Memory Configurator is not working any longer since a few days. This only applies if you select DDR3 on the inital page  (https://memoryconfigurator.hpe.com/ddr4memoryconfig/home/legal). The DDR4 version works fine.

I get the following error message after selecting DDR3:

ERROR: Invalid request. Please "Start Over".

Is there any chance the tool gets online again?

Re: HPE Server Memory Configurator broken

The tool has retired. You can use the Server Options Compatibility Tool for compatible data or visit https://www.hpe.com/us/en/servers/memory.html#Resources for additional information on HPE Memory.

Why would something that worked so wel be retired without a replacement?

Re: HPE Server Memory Configurator broken

So, instead of letting customers know that a highly useful tool is being retired in advance, you just shove out a "for dummies" pdf and say "good luck"? Glad to see you're treating customers well...

Memory configurator was one of the tools that set HPE apart from Dell.  Totally bummed about this tool being killed.

Re: HPE Server Memory Configurator broken

How are we to find the correct memory config for upgrading systems, these systems have to be balanced so they run as designed.  Come on HPE bring this back, this tool isnt just used for one off configs, I need this for upgrading and budgetary for my next year....

Re: HPE Server Memory Configurator broken

Totally agree, this was/is one of the most usefull tools for day to day configuring and expansion. Please reactivate this tool!!!

I've send this message to our PBM as well, so hopefully HPE will do something with our comments!

Re: HPE Server Memory Configurator broken

I was using this tool to find appropriate balanced memory configurations. What tool are we supposed to use now ?

That's exactly how I've used it for years as a VAR sales rep.

Maybe someone will write one.

Re: HPE Server Memory Configurator broken

Nobody asked me or communicated to customers how we felt about this retirement...This is a huge loss.  We need Gen10 plus to be added and it re-published.

Re: HPE Server Memory Configurator broken

I agree with everyone else. This is terrible news!

Correct population of memory has always been difficult and refering to Quickspecs or other documentation is really hard when you're upgrading servers and mixing new memory with the old ones. Also for balancing between capacity and throughput.

What is the business reason for discontinuing this? More likely many HPE customers were just not aware of the configurator. I know that HPE resellers were also using this extensively to minimize wrong configurations.

Re: HPE Server Memory Configurator broken

FYI I have opened a ticket on the EMEA techhub, the reply is the following :

We are aware that this situation leaves an empty hole in our publicly available working tools since we have not a replacement yet. Experts did not share any major reason why it was removed (it seems that it was not complaint with HPE branding)

However, Experts are aware of this situation. They also know that customers/clients are asking for a replacement.

They are working to enhance Power Advisor’s “memory configuration” so we have a working replacement ASAP, sadly, we do not have a release date for that neither.

Fué bonito mientras duró. No entiendo como han eliminado esta herramienta que nos ayudaba a planificar nuestras ampliaciones de memoria en el entorno.

Una desagradable noticia

Re: HPE Server Memory Configurator broken

The memory configuration tool that previously existed allowed us to correctly configure the part number options required for each configuration. It is very important that HPE reconsiders its position of not republishing the tool: https://memoryconfigurator.hpe.com/MemoryTool/Home/ConfigurationDetails
