UPS & Server Suddenly Shut Down When Serial Cable Connetced
We have several Compaq T1500 XR UPS's along with several APC Smart-UPS's. Connecting a serial cable between a server and the APC UPS's is no problem, but whenever I try to connect a serial cable between a server and a Compaq UPS both the UPS and the server are immediatly and ungracefully shut down. Any thoughts?

Re: UPS & Server Suddenly Shut Down When Serial Cable Connetced
HP T1500 XR UPS uses HP Power Manager 4.x software to control server shutdown. The software can be downloaded from www.hp.com/products/ups. It sounds like you are using the Windows UPS service for this UPS. To disable this server, browse to Windows Services and make sure this service is stopped/manual/disabled.
