Once I asked if there was a package that could install everything—operating systems, packages, etc.—and I was told NO:
But actually, I'm wondering what the second HVM package does... :

Ynt: Question during installation
Hi,
I reviewed the packages shown in the download section.
The HVM Install 24.04 ISO is not a guest OS image and it is not the VM Essentials Manager appliance itself. It is the bootable installer used to install and prepare a physical server as an HVM host / hypervisor host, based on Ubuntu 24.04.
So, the packages should be considered separately:
HPE VM Essentials SW image ISO: used for the VM Essentials Manager / appliance layer.
HVM Install 24.04 ISO: used to boot and install the HVM host operating system / hypervisor layer on the physical hosts.
HPE HVM Upgrade Bundle: used for upgrading an existing HVM deployment, not for a fresh host installation.
Therefore, the previous answer may have referred to the older/manual deployment approach, or to the fact that there is no single package that installs the entire environment end-to-end. However, the HVM Install 24.04 ISO does simplify the host installation part, because it provides the bootable HVM host installer.
In short: yes, the second package is relevant for installation, but specifically for preparing the physical servers as HVM hosts. You would still need to deploy/configure the VM Essentials Manager separately and then create/provision the HVM cluster from the manager side.
I hope this has clarified the matter.
