Transforming Network Data into Business Intelligence: Ryder Cup 2025
How HPE Aruba Networking's New Central APIs Unlock Unprecedented Possibilities for Custom Solutions and AI-Powered Insights

The Ryder Cup 2025 presented a unique opportunity to showcase what's possible when network infrastructure meets intelligent data analysis. Thousands of spectators across multiple venues, concession stands, merchandise tents, and management areas all required seamless connectivity. The event demonstrated how raw network data could be transformed into actionable business intelligence that predicts crowd behavior, optimizes operations, and prevents issues before they happen.
HPE Aruba Networking's New Central API-first architecture made this transformation possible. These aren't just basic monitoring endpoints. They're a gateway to unlimited customization and integration possibilities. New Central's APIs provide real-time access to device status and performance metrics, client data and network analytics, health monitoring with proactive alerts, and detailed location-based insights down to individual access points. Organizations aren't locked into a single visualization platform or monitoring tool. The data can be integrated wherever and however it makes sense for each unique operation.
One of the most compelling demonstrations from the Ryder Cup project showcases this flexibility in action. Our Automation Solutions team built two completely different dashboard solutions using the same New Central API data. A Grafana dashboard serves as a time-series visualization powerhouse using an open-source tool that many customers utilize. It displays real-time device counts, client health distributions, CPU utilization, memory consumption, and power metrics. Alongside this sits a custom React/Next.js dashboard, a sleek modern web interface tailored for executives and field teams who need mobile-optimized views and custom workflows. New Central's APIs adapt to each workflow rather than forcing workflows to adapt to the platform.
The project took an even more innovative turn with the integration of AI-powered natural language processing capabilities directly with New Central's network data. The result is a network intelligence assistant that can answer questions about network trends in plain English, predict potential issues before they impact users, suggest optimizations based on historical patterns, and translate complex network metrics into digestible insights. Questions about CPU utilization spikes or client density patterns receive immediate, contextual answers. Customers can create their own custom solutions using any language model or AI platform that suits their needs. New Central's APIs provide the rich data foundation needed to build intelligent network analysis tools in whatever configuration works best.
The Ryder Cup implementation revealed some fascinating real-world examples of how network monitoring transcends traditional IT operations. By analyzing AP radio channel graphs and client density spikes, the team discovered that concession stands experienced predictable surges around 1 PM. Event organizers could adjust staffing levels based on predicted foot traffic, optimize inventory distribution across venues, ensure adequate bandwidth during peak purchasing times, and redirect resources to high-traffic areas proactively. Network data revealed human behavior patterns that drove smarter operational decisions across the entire event.
Monitoring management area utilization trends over multiple days established baseline patterns for tournament operations centers. This enabled the team to identify unusual spikes that might indicate operational issues, preemptively add capacity during critical tournament moments, and detect security incidents through abnormal network behavior. The system moved from reactive troubleshooting to predictive prevention.
Access point distribution maps revealed client imbalances. One AP was handling 60+ clients while nearby APs sat underutilized. The team could strategically deploy additional access points, adjust power levels for better client distribution, make data-driven placement decisions for future events, and prevent dead zones before users experienced issues. This level of granular visibility transforms network planning from guesswork to science.
Behind the scenes, a modern microservices architecture powers the Ryder Cup monitoring solution. API integration services continuously fetch data from New Central. A time-series database stores metrics ideal for continuous monitoring. Visualization layers render data in Grafana and custom web frameworks. AI integration services process network data for intelligent insights. The system handles hundreds of concurrent API calls, aggregating data from thousands of devices without performance degradation.
New Central's comprehensive API ecosystem opens the door to unlimited possibilities. Organizations can choose their preferred visualization platforms, integrate with existing security and event management systems, build mobile applications for field technicians, create executive dashboards with custom KPIs, deploy their own AI models for network intelligence, and extract business insights from connectivity patterns.
The Ryder Cup project demonstrates that modern network infrastructure is about more than connectivity. It's about intelligence, insight, and innovation. New Central's API-first design philosophy provides the tools to build exactly what each organization needs. The transformation of network data into business intelligence, the integration of AI-powered insights into operations, and the development of custom tools that solve unique challenges are all within reach.
