Testing from Mac Server

Does anybody know how to trouble shoot a MSL6000 tape backup. We have one connected to some MAC servers and the troubleshooting software is only for windows. The device is reporting some errors and I need a way to trouble shoot. The options from the backup device menu don't really help much. Thanks in advance.
