Re: HPE StoreOnce Virtual Storage Appliance
Hello @ZoellerG,
HPE StoreOnce will not provide control over the operation of files such as editing, deleting, or renaming. You should be able to rename it from the Veeam software.
Here are the screenshots of StoreOnce and Veeam for your reference:
You should be able to rename the files from Veeam software. If you are not able to do it, kindly reach out to the Veeam support team.
Thank You,
Ashik N S

Re: HPE StoreOnce Virtual Storage Appliance
Hello @ZoellerG,
Hope these steps will answer your query.
Rename the job-> Rename the folder-> Rename the VBM file-> Rescann the repository and map the job to the existing backup in the renamed folder.
When the subsequent job runs VBM file is updated and preserves its new name. If you delete it - it is being re-created with the new job name.
Found an article for your reference: - https://www.running-system.com/how-to-rename-a-veeam-backup-job-and-the-associated-backup-folders/
Also, here is the Veeam discussion on the VBM file - https://forums.veeam.com/vmware-vsphere-f24/editing-the-job-name-of-a-vbm-file-t63752.html
If you see different behavior, contacting Veeam support for assistance would be your best effort.
Thanks & Regards,
Ashik N S

SolutionI have now just deleted the files after talking to the veeam support, and the repository scan and the starting of the job have recreated the .vbm file.
But the Question Remains, why can't files be renamed on the storeonce catalyst storages?
Thanks to everyone!

Re: HPE StoreOnce Virtual Storage Appliance
Hello @ZoellerG,
Since StoreOnce is an archival repository, you can archive the data for securing purposes. You will be able to store the Backups.
But you cannot rename the files. To rename the files you must do it from the backup software.
Hope this answers your query.
Thanks & Regards,
Ashik N S
