Storeonce Catalyst - Filesystem agent
Hello,
Is there any way to write data to a StoreOnce appliance via the Catalyst protocol without using backup software? For example, is there an option to mount a Catalyst store as a filesystem using some kind of agent? A similar functionality is offered by the competing Data Domain solution through BoostFS.
Thanks in advance for your reply.

Re: Storeonce Catalyst - Filesystem agent
Hello @jancipra
I believe you cannot mount a StoreOnce Catalyst store as a general-purpose filesystem like you can with Data Domain's BoostFS. Catalyst is designed specifically for efficient backup data transfer, not for regular file access.
You can either:
Use Catalyst only through supported backup software (like Veeam, Commvault, or Data Protector), or
Use NFS/SMB shares on StoreOnce if you just need a regular mount (but without Catalyst benefits).
Currently, HPE does not offer a native filesystem mount for Catalyst stores like BoostFS.
If you have further doubts regarding this, I would recommend you to contact HPE support team for more assistance.

Sanika.

Re: Storeonce Catalyst - Filesystem agent
Hello @jancipra,
If you want to use StoreOnce to mount filesystem, NAS share is the right data service, instead of Catalyst stores.

Re: Storeonce Catalyst - Filesystem agent
Hello @sbhat09
Thats right, but for NAS, there are some constraints versus the Catalyst protocol—for example, with respect to enforcing immutability of stored data.

Re: Storeonce Catalyst - Filesystem agent
May I know which Generation/Model of StoreOnce you are using?
