Application managed snapshot for SQL Server

When taking an application managed snapshot of SQL Server volumes, SQL interprets that as a FULL backup thus making it the base for the next DIFFERENTIAL backup. This renders the SQL DIFFERENTIAL useless since it obviously cannot be applied to a snapshot restore.

 

Is there any way around this or am I missing something?
