Capacitor Failure and Disk latency

Hello,

We got a Capicitor error detected by CMC and hard disks Latency

I don't know how works DL Proliant. Does IO are directly wrote on disks without using cache because capacitor won't be able to write cache data on HD if loss of power ? That could explain disks Latency.

Why Lefthand don't switch second SAN node as Primary. I had to do it manually.

PS : After Primary node rebooted, Capacitor error have disepaer.

Thanks for your help

regards

Re: Capacitor Failure and Disk latency

The capacitor replaces the cache battery in Gen8 and some Gen10 servers. Without a battery the disk controller will disable the write cache.

Hope this helps!

Re: Capacitor Failure and Disk latency

Hello,

If cache disk is disable when Capacitor or battery fail, that could explain the disk latency.

I don't undestand why Lefthand don't switch between nodes. That failure is identified critical in CMC.

Thanks for your help

Re: Capacitor Failure and Disk latency

Today we replace Capacitor and it was inflated. After P4000 reboot, Capacitor was not declared as defected but it was.

I always don't understand why lefthand don't switch to secondary node.
