Network intermittent problem when edge switch replacement
Hi,
Can someone help me on my problem? I have a deteriorating extreme switches and my network team advise me to replace this switch with a hp2824 procurve switch. Replacement went smoothly except on one of our critical system which was located in remote site. We were able to ping the server but was not able to connect via ftp. As a result we revert back to our old extreme switch. As per our support there is something wrong with our procurve configuration (mixed up layer2 and layer3 configuration). I just need a second opinion on this finding. Please see attached config.
thanks,
Otep

Re: Network intermittent problem when edge switch replacement
Hi Otep,
Could you please post the configuration for the extreme switch and advise what device is acting as your default gateway and post it's config if possible?

Re: Network intermittent problem when edge switch replacement
It's hard to see what can have gone wrong with a layer 3 switch, if a Ping test is working.
One thing I would try is increasing the size of the Ping. It can happen that you lose large packets, whereas a Ping with default size shows nothing wrong.
Other than that it all sounds very odd. Good luck!
