all memory not recognized -

I have a pair of new ML350 G4's w/6GB ram. The bios counts 6 when posting so I know it's all there and good. Win2k3 Server Standard edition doesn't see it all. btw I had the same problem when I experimented w/SBS2k3 on the same box. I entered the /PAE switch which helped me jump from 3.5GB recognized by Windows to 4GB. Any suggestions for those last 2GB? According to the Microsoft site I should now be seeing it all.

thanx,

Windows 2003 standard edition have 4 Gb memory limit
In order to use your 6 Gb you need to buy windows 2003 enterprise edition

Re: all memory not recognized -

Funny how neither of these kb articles makes that clear. Which is correct?

Re: all memory not recognized -

Both articles address Enterprise and Data Center editions, and speak of how to enable those specific editions to address additional memory.

Standard Edition is capped at 4 Gig.

See comparisons below:

Re: all memory not recognized -

283037 lists "Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition" as one of the servers this applies to?

Thanx to all. 4GB is NOT a reasonable limitation for any server operating system these days. We've been Microsoftened again.

Not that this is the forum for it but how can a company introduce an operating system (SBS2003) for up to 75 users, give you Exchange & SQL for a really great price and expect you to be able to use in with only 4GB RAM?
