Authentication in IIS

I have a problem. Someone played with the IIS at my office, and now even though I have everything working in order as it should... my users are still being popped up for authentication even though anonymous login is enabled...
I tried to check if the password was lost for the IUSER_SPECIALIST, but evcen when I reset the userID and password... I am still stuck with the same error...
I am very new to Server 2003.. need help... urgent...

Thanks in advancee... to anyone who can help me on this.... any suggestions are welcome...

Re: Authentication in IIS

check the security on the files your hosting, as IUSR_anonymous (or whatever) needs rights to provide the file anonymously.

Re: Authentication in IIS

Sir,
Apparantly there have been some policy changes at higher levels. That's why even though everything is correct, the rights have been somehow affected.. We tried to re-install IIS and it still doesn't work.... So finally we are looking for an OS re-install. If there is an option that you have, we'd definitely like to wait for it...

Re: Authentication in IIS

if it really is a policy thing, try RSOP.msc. ReSults Of Policy allows you to see what policy is in effect, and where it's comming from
