I need to setup NFS server running on Windows server2003 and all clients are HP and Linux. I can easily find a samba client for HP and Linux, but didn't get any clue on where to get a server for Windows, anyone did this before?
BTW, I've tried SFU3.5, not a good solution...
thanks,
Gary

Re: CIFS server on Windows platform
I remember that our Linux technician told me that to enable smbclients to access Windows 2003 fileservers they needed a certain version of smbclient that needed a special version of the kernel. Otherwise it wouldn't be able to connect using CIFS (it would use SMB instead).
Let me know if I can be of any kind of assistance. I work with securing our WIndows servers so our fileserver is more secured than the standard Windows 2003 box.

Re: CIFS server on Windows platform
Just to answer your question about PCNFS.
It's available free in the SFU 3.5. You'll see it when you install SFU in Custom mode.
Also, you can only install NFS Client from SFU 3.5 and map the exported NFS file systems from the UNIX box. No need to install and setup User Name Mapping. NFS Client will work without User Name Mapping:

Meanwhile, if you want to use SMB, refer to this link for download but it only runs under 2000 and XP:

Hope this help

Wondering if you found the CIFS server for Windows. I am interested in locating such software.

Re: CIFS server on Windows platform
I also don't know jack about Linux but I was under the impression that Windows Server 2003 with SP1 supported CIFS. See here for more info:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/cifs/protocol/cifs.asp
and maybe this will help:

Make a great day!
