DL 380 G3 Array config tool
I have to make some changes I am nervous about because I have never done this on an exchange server. I am running exchange W2k3 on a W2k3 server. I have a DL380, G3, 5i controller/4 - 36 gig scsi disks. I want to add a fifth disk in slot 4. The current array is arranged as raid 5. I have HP array config utility 7.40.8.0 installed. I want to add the disk to the array and then resize the C partition to add a few gigs. Anyone with some warm words of assurance that this will work flawlessly?
Thanks
Chris S.

Re: DL 380 G3 Array config tool
Chris:
Extending your C: drive will require some additional software. There are no free utilities to do so, unless you already have a 3rd party partition manager.
The process is simple...
Insert drive
Use ACU to EXPAND Array (can take a while, sometimes a long while depending on how much data needs to be moved around)
Use ACU to EXTEND your Logical Drive (that contains the C: partition... usually Logical Drive 1)
Use 3rd Party utility to extend the partition.
Other options are to image the machine, wipe the array and restore it with the new size logical drives.

Remember to backup everything! Ghost image and file backups are essential just in case.

Re: DL 380 G3 Array config tool
Hi Chris,
i would suggest a easy way out of it.
Use Ghost take partition image. Then create a new Big partition as per your requirement then restore back the same image on the new partition. It will work for sure.
