Extend RAID array (5I RAID controller)
We have a compaq DL380 with a embedded 5I RAID controller. On the controller a RAID 5 array is created which contains four disks of 38,4 Gb each. On the array one logical drive is created with the maximum space (3 X 38,4 GB).
In windows the entire volume is in use by one patition (Drive F:).
Now the entire F: drive is full.
I would like to know if it possible to replace the four disks one at a time by larger disks (wait for a rebuild every time a disk is replaced) and then extend the logical drive with the extra free space ? And will windows see this extra space on the volume ?

Re: Extend RAID array (5I RAID controller)
Yes it is possible, but your operating system must be at least Windows 2000 with SP3. The volume has to be dynamic. You have to upgrade the SA controller to the latest BIOS version.
And as always you must make two working backup copies of the system! :-))
