Re: File Server Recommendations

Hi,
It very depends on number of users, size/number of files (for example if you have 20 million small files....), and your budget

Re: File Server Recommendations

Hi

Thank you, the link was helpfull
DL 380 G5 with SAN MSA 60 modules [scalable] should be fine.

Cheeers.

Re: File Server Recommendations

Hi,
Depends on the performance what you want, The DL380 wit the MSA 60 is a great choice, we have a costumer running that config.

another tip to boost the speed of the MSA is to put smaller disks in it, you will need more disk, but 72GB disks perform faster then 146. If you only use the server for data and the data are just simple files user request larger disk are no prblem. Ifyou use smaller disk it is more expensive, but it may be something to keep in mind.

Have a nice day,

Re: File Server Recommendations

As suggested, have checked the hp site for proliant DL servers and DL 380 G5 looks better for File server and for SAN MSA 60 modules as these are scalable.
Lower capacity disks giving good I/O sounds logically correct but need to check.
Thanks to all for replying and assisting.

Imran.
