Installing Win Server 2003 on a Proliant 1600

Windows 2003 does not recognize the onboard NIC. The HP/Compaq driver for 2003 does not work. Is there a NIC driver for the Proliant 1600 600MHz system for Win 2003?

Did you try the 2000 version drivers from HP's site?

And... if this is the Server series, did you look at Smart Start?

I did try to 2000 version. It fails to install and I get an error message saying the driver is not necessary. But the NIC is not showing in the hardware list and the new hardware wizard starts everytime I bootup.

I just looked up SmartStart. It looks like I will have to pay for access to drivers that should be free on the HP site. But, if SmartStart will install the needed drivers then the price is worth it.
