Microsoft Small Busines Server 2003

I am experiencing some issues with the server not recognizing my tape drive. I have a ML330 with a Compaq 12/24 tape drive. Since upgradeing from SBS 4.5 to SBS 2003 the server will not see the drive. Is it( the OS ) holding on to the old driver???

Do you see anything related to the tape drive in device manager, or an unknown or disabled device?

Willium,
Yes, you are correct. You OS may have old drivers. But usually when you upgrade to SBS 2003, the setup programs automatically checks your hardware and reports any potential conflicts. You could have noticed if there are any conflict drivers with your OS.

Willium,

Now you a another option of using "Check System Compatibility" wich is available from the Autorun page of Windows Small Business Server Disc 1. If you click Check System Compatibility, the Microsoft Windows Upgrade Advisor wizard appears. It is recommended that you use this wizard to check for compatibility issues if any.

compatibility should not be the issue, change the scsi id, check the terminator and cabling. update the BIOS and controller FW too.

thanks!

Re: Microsoft Small Busines Server 2003

With unrecognised or undetected hardware, the following sometimes works:
Shut down the computer.
Physically remove the hardware.
Boot the computer and log on.
Shut down the computer.
Re-install the hardware.
Reboot the system.
