Publishing Active directory users and computers in Citrix Metaframe PS 4.0

Hello,
I published Active directory Users and computers in a W2K3 TS /Citrix Metaframe Presentation server 4.0 and its not working.
Any help is appreciated.

What, specifically is not working? Are clients unable to log in through Citrix clients using their domain credentials, or is it something else?

i have W2K3, PS4.0,one server farm. There are 6 different applications published and working fine.
Recently i publised "Active directory Users and computers". I can see the icon in the client machines Citrix program neighborhood. When i click on the icon, the login process starts and at the end of login process it says "Active Directoru Users and computers (name of the app) failed to start. The citrix server unable to process your request to start this published application. Please try again. If the problem persists, contact your administrator"

If i logon to the servers desktop and run the "Active directory Users and computers" from start menu-administrative tools, it works fine. But if go to program neighborhood and open it as a published application, it gives the error.
I tried the same in a diffrent development server. Same w2k3 Ps.40 server. I get the same error.
Both the PS4.0 servers has other application published and functioning normally.

Oh. I get it now... you published an mmc applet!

I personally don't think that this is something that should be published -- instead, the applet should be in an admin-only home directory or directly installed to an admin's console. But that is just me.

My recomendation would be to go back and make sure that the path that was published is the same as the desktop shortcut you would build for local operations. On my setup, I would publish "mmc " using system default paths.

Thanks again for the information. It didnt work. I gave the command "c:\windows\system32\dsa.msc" and the path "c:\windows\system32" where the .msc file resides.
i tried publishing another mmc applet, compmgmt.msc. it gives the same error.
Looks like something needs to be done to publish the mmc applications.

try it using "mmc %systemroot%\system32\dsa.msc" or try moving the dsa file to a less important directory where you can set less stringent permissions on it without compromising the system...

Hi John,

I have the same same problem, its deffinately not to do with where the files reside.

I believe it is being stopped by a group policy setting but I will be happy if I can find it.
