Server 2003 and Terminal Service

Does anybody have expierince using a windows 2003 server as a terminal server (MSTSC) with more than 30 user permitted. Is it possible to login simultaneously 30 session. How is the performance?

Reason: Using a Windows 2003 Server with terminal server licenses as an internet gateway. So no other high performance application will run on this server.

Hi Doebe, did you see/check info on Windows 2003 Server as a Terminal Server on the web? Please look in to the next web links:

Re: Server 2003 and Terminal Service

Hi Doebe,
I don't see why you can't log in that many.
Its all a matter of your connection speed and the processor of the server.
Do all users connection have high speed?
What is the model of the server?

Re: Server 2003 and Terminal Service

Hi Ken, Hi Ed K.
Thanks for your prompt replies.
Ed K.:
Yes, I already checked the weblinks. Thanks anyway.
Ken:
At the moment we don't know what model of the server we want to use. But everbody should have a highspeed connection to the server.
So you helped me with your statement: I don't see why you can't log in that many. Its all a matter of your connection speed and the processor of the server.

Re: Server 2003 and Terminal Service

Hi,
If you use this server only as Internet gateway (internet browsing) -
install windows 2003 64-bit edition.
It certainly improve performance and number of concurrent terminal server users

Re: Server 2003 and Terminal Service

Hi
I have ProLiant DL360 G3 with 2 proc and 4 GB RAM, 2xmirror disks 15 krpm W2003 Std server installed and believe or not - more than 50 users there using it as full desktop replacement.

Works perfect so that lot of users were asking to put them back to thin client instead to have normal workstation which was at time of installing with 256MB RAM as performance in Office applications was much better.

No speciality in config, one net card, but configuration done by GPO's only, no registry manipulation (few exception) after previous experience.

Now we are going to change it again to introduce redundancy what requries higher net connectivity as is 100Mbit card because of lotus installed there and users lotus datadirectory locally
