W2k3 onNIC+Utility sofware driver upgrades
Hi, i want to upgrade the NIC drivers and Teaming Utility drivers for NC77xx Gigabit NICs on Proliant servers running W2K3. Now my question: which is the best practice way of going about it?? Upgrade NIC drivers first, reboot then upgrade Utility drivers?? Or the other way round?
thanks for your advice.
Cheers, Daniel

Re: W2k3 onNIC+Utility sofware driver upgrades
Hi Daniel,
the recommended way to upgrade proliant device drivers including the NICs and the teaming utility software would be by installing the latest proliant support pack. PSP (proliant support pack) includes all the device drivers (based on your proliant model e.g. proliant dl380 g2/g3), management agents and certain system ulities such as ACU, IML Viewer, NIC teaming utility etc.
You have not mentioned the server model in your case. I have assumed that you are using the Proliant DL380 G3 server (if this is the case), download the latest PSP from the following link:
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/19614.html
installation of PSP takes care of the device drivers dependency issues and is the recommended path for upgrading software components on proliants.
if for some reason PSP installation is not an option for you, I would first install the NIC drivers, reboot and then install the NIC Teaming utility.
hope this was of help and dont forget to assign points:)
