W3K install problem on Itanium server rx2600

Hi,

I get the following error message while trying to install windows server 2003 (EES) on an rx2600 itanium server.
The setup could not continue with the installation.
Currently there is no MSR ( Microsoft reserved partition) on your system drive.
An msr is required on every disk.

HOw do i setup up an MSR partition on the system disk so as ican install the OS.

thanks

Eddie:

I think this article describes the procedure you need to follow:

Hi Eddie:

Here's a link to the Support Manual:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/lpn04096/lpn04096.pdf
I think you may have to do a Cold Reset with the Boot Option Maintenance Menu.

Are you using SmartSetup to do the installation?

Here's a link to the latest BIOS, firmware, etc.:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?pnameOID=88839&locale=en_US&taskId=135&prodSeriesId=88837&prodTypeId=15351&swEnvOID=54

and here's a link to the latest W2K364-specific drivers, etc.:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?pnameOID=88839&locale=en_US&taskId=135&prodSeriesId=88837&prodTypeId=15351&swEnvOID=1060

Here's a link for setup & installation:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Resource.jsp?locale=en_US&taskId=115&prodSeriesId=88837&prodTypeId=15351

Here's a link for manuals:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DocumentIndex.jsp?contentType=SupportManual&locale=en_US&docIndexId=179911&taskId=115&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=88837

this is probably the manual you need today:
http://h200001.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/lpn14735/lpn14735.pdf

I think this item should not be overlooked:
IMPORTANT: Disconnect all mass storage devices from all controllers except for the controller that you intend to use as the boot controller. Make a note of where these devices were connected for reconnection later. Doing this makes it much easier to install to the correct device.
This is from page 5 of 9.
