Win2003 on 1850R
I know from the Proliant Supported OS matrix win2003 is not supported on the 1850R, but I'm just trying to get it installed on a test sandbox machine, has anyone had any luck doing this without the right smart start option available?
Life is a promise, fulfill it!

Yo:
I have not but were it me, I would get all the latest/greatest 'stuff' from here: http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/locate/20_1115.html
for starters.
Then I would attempt the install and deal with problems/issues as they arise until it was up and running.
HTH

Re: Win2003 on 1850R
I have installed Win 2003 Svr on several PL1850rs using the P3-500+ processors. On these systems it works just great but you may encounter an issue when you go to install the PSP's prior to 7.0. One of the systems management drivers wont install and the install log error message will refer you to the driver from the the W2K PSP. Many of the other PSP components wont install because that driver failed to install. You can manually install the W2K version of the driver and it works just fine and the pre 7.0 PSPs will load fine afterward. PSP 7.0 seems to address this issue though so I recommend just installing that instead. I have also tested Win2003 on Proliant 1600's running Pentium-3 processors and it works fine as well with the same caveat.

Mike

Re: Win2003 on 1850R
I forgot to mention that the HP Proliant Network Configuration Utility 7 does not seem to work properly on older unsupported server models. I recommend unchecking this component under the NIC properties for NICs installed in unsupported servers.
