How to wipe out XP128 disk array
Hi All,
We are going to return back leased HP systems with disk array XP128. But there are critical data on the XP 128. Is there any special way to reliably erase all data on it, or using "dd if=/dev/zero of=" is possible.
Thanks for all answers.

Re: How to wipe out XP128 disk array
Your "dd" command will work though if somebody really, really wanted to read the data, it would still be possible. I understand you need to write random data at least ten times over the same disk to completely eliminate all possibility of reading it. Most people would find your approach OK though. Oh, if you do go for overwriting the disk with random data don't use swap as the source!
Never preceed any demonstration with anything more predictive than "watch this"

Re: How to wipe out XP128 disk array
And what do you think about fact , that XP_disk_device_file (i.e. /dev/dsk/c34t0d0)doesn't represent real disk , but part of disk space on XP array?
Thanks
Thanks

Hi,
You can reconfigure LUN's in Storage and initialise them.
There is utility in Service processor to erase or reformate drive.
