Performance Advisor XP on VM Blades Question

Just wanted to get a feedback from the ITRC community on the following:

DO you advise installing PA XP 4.0 on (2) standalone VM blades [1 that is SAN attached; the other is not]? Any thoughts?

I already have OS matrix compatibility but just wanted to get a HW / server perspective.
Thanks,
-Lou

Re: Performance Advisor XP on VM Blades Question

Hi,
http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01701446/c01701446.pdf

a) Performance Advisor Management Server Supported Operating Systems
(which does not need to have the SAN access)

is supported on the VMware ESX

b) Performance Advisor Host Agent Supported Operating Systems
(which needs the SAN access)
is not supported on VMWare ESX
the pain is one part of the reality

Re: Performance Advisor XP on VM Blades Question

The previous post is for PAXP 3.5.2

PAXP 4.0
Performance Advisor Management Server Supported Operating Systems
(which does not need the SAN access)

is supported as Guest OS on VMware ESX 3.0 and 3.5 Update 2

AND
Performance Advisor Host Agent Supported Operating Systems
(which needs the SAN access)

is supported as guest OS in ESX 3.0 and 3.5 Update 2

Re: Performance Advisor XP on VM Blades Question

Thanks for your quick response.
Now if VMware ESX is not used, would you advise placing PA XP on just [C7000] blades with the proper Win OS?

Re: Performance Advisor XP on VM Blades Question

Yes,
but for the
Performance Advisor Host Agent
you need the SAN access (to access the command devices)
the pain is one part of the reality
