XP 1024 Consistent reservation.
We got a XP1024 with over 70 TB of data and multiple HBAs and hosts utilizing the luns. However, when we stop using a lun from a HOST and delete it from the OS and we attempt to reassign this lun device to another host, then the XP1024 complaints of a persistant reservation from the HOST.
We are facing this issue with Tru64, AIX and Solaris.
Has anyone seen this issue before and how you resolved it.
Thanks in Advance!
David

Re: XP 1024 Consistent reservation.
I may be wrong, I have not come across this one, but I understand is that, XP arrays are from HDS and HP has a bit modified microcode on the firmware. This may be your case.
Just call HP in your area to help you out.
Once again I may be wrong.
Thanks
Chan

Re: XP 1024 Consistent reservation.
The Tru64 Unix Trucluster software uses persistent reservations. The system disk (and possible the bootable CD-ROM) should have a utility to remove the reservation.

Re: XP 1024 Consistent reservation.
for configurations using HP Autopath (multipath s/w now embedded in SecurePath) on Windows their is a utility available to reset persistent reservations, i don't know about the OS's you use but maybe they do provide simmilar utilities.
It can be run to check for any persistent reservations first and then if you want, you can also reset a specific reservation.
see example below:
HP Auto Path> apprutil disks
NT Disk # DeviceName Scsi Addr. Reservation
--------------------------------------------
Disk 3 HP OPEN-9 0.0.1.16 None
Disk 4 HP OPEN-9 0.0.2.17 None
Here's the info from the HP Autopath utility (apprutil.exe) :
* Persistent reservations clear utility (apprutil.exe):
If there is a stray persistent reservation on a device, the device may not be accessible from host systems. The persistent reservations clear utility can be used to remove such reservations from the device, thereby allowing host systems to access the device.
Examples:
APPRUTIL CLEAR DISK=1 Clears reservation present on NT disk 1.
APPRUTIL CLEAR DISK=3 10 Clears reservation present on NT disks 3 to 10.
