XP P9500 Raid Group Utilization
What is the recommended way to deal with raid group hotspots on a XP P9500?
I've got five raid groups that consistently trigger our Performance Advisor 65% utilization alert throughout the day.
Two of the RGs are part of one storage pool (SQL), and are 600GB 10K SAS drives, our workhorse Tier 2, drives (Tier 1 is SSD).
The other three RGs are in a different storage pool (mostly VMware, file services), also 600GB 10K SAS drives, Tier 1 drives in that pool (No SSD).
Attaching a screenshot of RG utilization from Performance Advisor.
Mostly, alerts being triggered are during spikes...I do not see utilization plateuing above 65%. Still, I was told by the XP guru that helped deploy this array that he gets concerned when RGs hit 65% utilization. I don't believe the utilization is causing any performance issues at this point...just looking at ways to better load balance across all RGs.
Oh and all RGs are Raid 5(7D + 1P) if that helps.
Thoughts?

Re: XP P9500 Raid Group Utilization
I know that array very well, and a couple of things come to mind right away... Can you tell me how many VSD's you have on the array? And how many you assign to these raid groups?
Also, how many total Raid Groups in the array? And how many raid groups assigned to the pools you are having problems with?
Use raidcom commands if you can... and awk out the lines that have nothing...
Most of the time it's a configuration issue...

And when you say VMWare pool, does that include VDI by chance?
