APA 支援設備限制(Lan card & Switch)

請問Auto Port Aggregation(APA)

1.只支援http://www.hp.com/products1/serverconnectivity/adapters/apa_prodbrief.html上所列之網卡& 3COM、Cisco、HP、Foundry、Alteon、Nortel、Extreme的 Switch嗎?其他model都不支援或是有其功能限制呢?

2.為何使用MANUAL mode也有Switch限制(Support Guide)上的資料?

3.可以多張不同model網卡混用嗎?速度要相同嗎?還是有特定限制?

1. 先從網卡說起, 目前HP 9000 rp系列及HP Integrity rx系列之PCI Bus幾乎清一色為PCI-X的規格. 即便市售的高階網卡規格符合, 還必須考量, 是否具有driver可相容於HPUX, 至於交換器, 就如同support guide所述, 3Com, Cisco, HP, Foundry, Alteon, Nortel, Extreme這些是HP測試過可相容於HP APA運作的交換器.



至於它牌的交換器, 引述APA product brief中的文字, "In the future, all switches that support the link aggregation standard will be able to interoperate with HP Auto-Port Aggregation." 也就是說, 未來, 只要switch支援link aggregation, 就可與HP APA搭配使用.

1. Cisco's proprietary Fast EtherChannel

(FEC/PAgP) technology



2. IEEE 802.3ad link aggregation control

再請問一下在使用APA所有模式中(manual,fec,lacp,monitor)

1.網卡是否可以不同型號混用?

2.是否一定要指定相同速度?才能正常運作?

1. 為了APA的穩定性著想, 不建議不同型號的網卡混用, 至於能不能用, 我想應該還是可以, 只是一般不會這麼做.



2. 當然要相同的速度, 試想100Mb/s 和 10Mb/s 怎麼做load balence.
