Unable to access ILO after power outage
Glad there's a Forum here for these Blade Systems.
Wondering if you can help... At the moment we have 4 Proliant BL20p G2 Blades and 4 Proliant BL20p G3 Blades in our Chassis. Last week we had a serious disaster when our Altiris deployment server started to re-image some of our servers including some of our Blades. As this was happening we had a power outage at the same time and lost all power to our Blade System.
Problems we have is that 2 of the G2 blades have been totally wiped of Data and OS and we are unable to use ILO to re-connect to it to re-build it. Can you tell me how to go about getting ILO to work again?
Thanks, hope you can help.
Chris

Chris you can try from post F8 reset defaults and Reseat physically server through enclosure, switch 1 - trigger ILO functionality, is G2 with USB or only ILO port?
" ...how to go about getting ILO to work again? " - What exactly you missing access from back, front, or F8 or ILO lock up
Also Chris for your benefits if you have question, you can open new thread with thread title that related to your problem

Re: Unable to access ILO after power outage
We don't have access to the front using the ILO crossover cable as the pins are screwed on the front panel. After re-seating the blade etc, ILO just doesn't seem to be active at all.
We use Altiris to manage the hardware and for some reason we can see the other 6 blades OK and we can use the ILO interface on them. Its just these 2 blades we are having trouble with.
Thanks

Re: Unable to access ILO after power outage
well, if you believe problem only in front port, you can swap it around, matter only of two T6 screws and small ribbon cable ( you need to pull 1st hard drive to see cable).
you can pull RTC battery and BBWC to drop all static from circuit and it should help reset NRAM and ILO to defaults with DHCP enabled, if you don't have DHCP server try with any basic router and cable connected to ILO management port
hyper terminal session (from service port) at blade enclosure will show IP addresses or rack view from server beside
one more option to move HDD set with Os installed and from system management home page under Remote devices (left) click Reseat ILO
you had not confirmed dongle with 2 ports or 4 ports, after CMOS pulled you should get ILO access with default password keep dip switch one for Troubleshooting time ON to bypass password

Re: Unable to access ILO after power outage
Many thanks for your help in this. We finally managed to get ILO working on the 2 G2 Blade Servers.
We basically done what you suggested and pulled the RTC Battery and cleared NVRAM. We set dipswitch one and eventually re-booted the blades and were able to login using the default password etc.
Phew! thanks again for your help
Chris
