Backup and restore VCM domain with MAC and WWN intact
Torbjørn asked a question:
***************
Hi all.
I believe this has been discussed previous, but I can’t seem to find the old email-thread.
If using virtual connect assigned MACs or WWNs will a VC backup & restore keep the MACs and WWNs intact or will they be assigned randomly on import/restore?
If yes, do we have anyway of keep them intact?

Hi Torbjørn,
Yes, restoring from backup keeps MACs and WWNs intact. Here’s a snippet on Backup/Restore from the VC UG http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c04562188
The domain configuration includes network definitions, MAC address settings, WWN settings, Fibre
Channel fabric settings, local user accounts, and server profile definitions. The backup file stores the same
information that is check-pointed between the primary and backup modules during normal operation.
Thanks,
Fred
