HP 1/10Gb-F Virtual Connect Ethernet Module compatibility to Cisco 65xx series
Sally was looking for some compatibility information:
*****************************************************************************
Could someone help to suggest on this query? Think the question here is whether 1/10Gb-F VC ethernet module can work with Cisco 6509 and 4948 switch, and support Trunk&VTP on Cisco switch? Thanks!
*********************************************************************
Vincent responded to Sally's question:
**************************************************************************
VLAN trunking is a standard protocol (IEEE 802.1q) and works fine between Virtual Connect and Cisco switches.
VTP on the other hand is a Cisco proprietary protocol and VC does not implement it. However this does not prevent any communication, VTP is used only for the configuration of VLANs throughout the network, its absence simply means Virtual Connect will need to be configured separately from the Cisco switches, using the same VLAN ids.

Help is just a posting away. Let us know if you use both Cisco and VC in the your data center!
