Understanding SFP+ capabilities for the VC 8Gb SAN module

Words of wisdom from Mr. Little here at HP regarding what the Virtual Connect 8Gb FC SAN module SFP+ interconnects will do. Mr. Little states: "The Brocade 8/24 FC VC SAN module (466482-B21) is supplied with two 8 Gb SFP+s (AJ716A). That SFP+ absolutely will absolutely work at 8 Gb, 4 Gb, or 2 Gb in that particular VC module, and is functional when connected to any fabric running at those speeds. What you need to know is that if a customer wants to actually use a 4 Gb SFP, they must use AJ715A and not an older model 4 Gb SFP (model # not handy at the moment.) It is not necessary to replace AJ716A with AJ715A simply because the user wants to run the fabric at 4 Gb since he/she should already have two AJ716A SFP+s that came with that VC module, and they will run at 8/4/2 Gb."
