WL100 Light on

Hi there,

I'm facing a problem with a WL100. The green light is always on (not flashing) and I can't get this card working in my notebook (W2K) or IPAQ (PPC 2002). Notebook says : service could not be started, IPAQ aks if card is inserted.
Any ideas ?

Re: WL100 Light on

I have almost the same problem, On my Toshiba 7100 the green light stays on and the machine freezes for several mins at a time, on the IPAQ running PPC2000 it asks if the card is inserted,
The card worked on the IPAQ when I first got it, but hasn?t worked since I tried to use it in the Laptop.

Re: WL100 Light on

i have the exact same problem. Below is an email I am sending to Compaq today.

Kevin

Greetings-

I have an ipaq 3835 Pocket PC running PPC2002. I have a Compaq Wireless PC Lan Card (WL100 11Mbps) that is not being recognized by my 3835.

I first tried installing the wl100 driver on my 3800, but during the setup process, it does not allow me to enter in my WEP key (which is much larger than the driver software will allow).

I then attempted to install the sp18661 softpaq for the WL110 (since it was designed for PPC2002) but get the message that my card is not being detected. I have included a .bmp file showing the exact error. No matter what software/driver I use (WL100 or WL110) I cannot get the card running correctly.

My PC Card Expansion pack works fine with other products so I know it works. In fact, I was able to connect to our wireless network using a Cisco Wireless Lan card to establish connectivity. So the problem has been isolated to the WL100 Compaq card.

I have scoured the drivers page and even used the:
Compaq WL110 Wireless PC Card Drivers for Microsoft Pocket PC 2000 and 2002 <../download/10774.html>
but came up empty.

Thank you for your time and help.

Re: WL100 Light on

Ah...this is a follow up to my early posting. I GOT IT TO WORK. REPEAT...IT WORKS. I am running PPC2002 on a ipaq 3835. I called compaq tech support and they said do a hard reset cause the problem may be the handheld. i laughed and hung up. I had initially installed the WL110 softpaq cause the WL100 driver didn't mention supporting PPC2002. That was a mistake. I removed the WL110 driver from "Remove Programs" on the 3835, reinstalled the WL100 driver version 1.05.06 dated 2/10/2001(even though it says nothing about PPC2002), configued my Wi-Fi security for my LAN and BAM...i was up and running smoothly.

The mistake I made was not removing the WL110 driver before installing the WL100 driver. LEarn from my mess-up. The WL100 wireless lan card works great with my 3835. Why, i walked i the bathroom, sat on the toilet and emailed everyone i knew telling them where i was at that moment and even talked to a couple friends on AIM, all while connected on my 3835.

Life is Beautiful? No. Wireless life is beautiful.

Email me if i can help. i can't guarantee i will always answer your emails, but i sure will try if i can. Make sure to put IPAQ Wl100 in the subject line.

Re: WL100 Light on

Have just tried what you suggested, and some progress, I now have a flashing green light instead of a steady one, Other than that still getting the same error message about card not being inserted, I?m not running PPC 2002 yet, am waiting for the upgrade to be delivered, so maybe that will solve the problem.
Nice to see Compaq support are so on the ball NOT!
