Hi,
While trying to initialize informix instance using tbinit,received the following error.
$ tbinit
tbinit: shmat[EINVAL][22]: shared memory base address illegal
using 0xcee7d000, needs 0xc4c93000
tbinit: fatal error in shared memory creation
Thanks

Re: shared memory error
Hello!
Try to work with ipcs (check in man)
that will show you shared mem. aloc.
semafors that in use, maybe you will
find something that will explain.
You may also try to check the shared mem.
in the kernel, maybe you will need to
add more to the shmmax etc.

Re: shared memory error
That is a very unusual error.
This thread seems similar.

Understand that with the earlier performance advice there are limitations. shmmax will simply ignore settings bigger than 25% of total available memory which is defined as physical ram plus swap.
For a good picture of available memory, try swapinfo -tam
