Online spare support on HP Smart array controllers
Hi.
Does any of the HP Smart Array SAS controllers support sharing a online spare drive between multiple arrays?
Example:
I've got these arrays
Array 1 = 2x72GB 10000 RPM SAS
Array 2 = 2x72GB 10000 RPM SAS
Can I assign one identical 72GB SAS HDD to be the online spare for both arrays?
Or do I need one online spare for each array?
I could not have one online spare for two arrays on the P400 controller in the DL380 G5, but does the P600, P700 or P800 (or any other) support this?

Re: Online spare support on HP Smart array controllers
According to the Smart Array Quickspecs, all Smart Array SAS controllers support Global Online Spare.
The disk was the same size or bigger than the ones in the arrays?
What message did you got when trying to add it as spare for another RAID?

Re: Online spare support on HP Smart array controllers
Aha. My bad.
I could not see this option in the Raid controllers bios, but when I tried clicking around a bit in the Windows ACU I found the option to assign one drive to multiple arrays.
Sorry.. And thanks :)
