Re: Firmware Upgrade
If you are going to upgrade the firmware on your 12H, I would highly recommend that you have HP do it for you. If you have a maintenance contract, then that is covered as part of your contract. Make sure the service rep. brings extra parts with him as the firmware upgrade can cause you some problems. Also make sure that you have a VERY RECENT FULL BACKUP of the array before you start. There is the possibility, however remote, that you can lose data as a result of the firmware upgrade.

FYI...Firmware upgrades are now apart of HP's Proactive Technical Services and are not being done for free. There are some exceptions to this though. For example, if you have a system failure because of outdated firmware, then HP will implement the new firmware to resolve the problem. However, I would highly recommend that you incur the small cost of the proactive technical service and have HP do the firmware upgrade for you. That way, you will not be responsible for any repercussions from the firmware upgrade.
