MSA1500 with ESX 3.5 problems
we have problems with a MSA1500 and 8 ESX (3.5) Servers.
The MSA1500 (firmware 7.0) locks up several times and some LUNs are realy realy slow... Also many scsi reservation errors are visible on ESX.
On the FC Switch if have set the port to fixed 2GB and fixed F-port..
Has someone seen the same problems? I heard something about HP no longer support ESX 3.5 on a MSA1500. Is this correct?
will downgrade ESX to 3.0.x solve the problem?
many thanks

Re: MSA1500 with ESX 3.5 problems
Hi,
According to VMware, ESX 3.5 is supported on an MSA1500.
http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vi35_san_guide.pdf
How are your LUNs arranged on the MSA ?
Cheers,
Rob

Re: MSA1500 with ESX 3.5 problems
MSA1500 with a minimum 7.00 firmware is supported with ESX 3.5.x. The recommended firmware is 7.10.
1. Check your connection types on the MSA with the ACU.
2. Reseat the transceiver kits on your SAn Switches
3. What type of servers and hba do you have? (Make/model/etc)
4. You should not need to downgrade.

Re: MSA1500 with ESX 3.5 problems
the customer has the following hardware:
Server: blade BL20p
HBA: HP Emulex dual port FC
We have created more (9) arrays with serveral LUNs on each array (to minimize the load on each array and to load balancing on the two processors). This makes no difference...
