Re: smart array replace
You do not have to install raid 1 again.
RAID configuration is written on disks, so your data should not be lost.
Replace dead smart array with other. It would be good if new smart array has the same firmware as old (or bigger but this does not have to be problem).

In vino veritas, in VMS cluster

Re: smart array replace
Hi,
replacing the Smart Array controller is an easy thing. you have to only install the new card in-place and every thing will be fine. Note that the new card firmware should be at least same version (or higher) as the dead one.
Also note, you don't have yo reinstall the RAID1 configuration and you will loose all data if you do so.
