My EVA 4000 current firmware is 5031
in the attached document , they said contact HP for revisions like this
Table 2 XCS 6.200 Upgrade Paths
Current XCS Version Upgrade Path to XCS 6.200 Upgrade type
6.110 Upgrade directly to 6.200 Online or offline
6.100 Upgrade directly to 6.200 Online or offline
6.000 Upgrade directly to 6.200 Online or offline
5.110 Upgrade to 6.110 and then to 6.200 Online or offline
5.100 Upgrade to 6.110 and then to 6.200 Online or offline
5.0xx Contact HP Services for upgrade information if you are running these versions.
any information about the upgrade path for that process, i wanna raise it to 6200
what is the mid level firmware which must be used
Any one from HP Support can help as told in the manual.

Re: Firmware upgrade for EVA4000
If you are on such an old level, you most likely have to migrate much more than just the EVA firmware. In my opinion, this requires a detailed inventory of the current state of the entire SAN and server environment and a migration plan before you even get hold of the necessary software.

Re: Firmware upgrade for EVA4000
there is one special firmware 5.032, if you can get it from the local HP, you can apply it and from this version the upgrades are online without the downtime (in a off-production times prefferably).
Steps:
1. 5031 to 5032 (5032 special interim from local HP)
2. 5032 to 5110
3. 5110 to 6110
4. 6110 to 6200
Important Notes:
a) due to the metadata structure changes the only downgrade from 6200 is EVA reinitialization and restore from tape backup
b) take care on the default timeout value, which is usualy 60s on all OS platforms, it may not be sufficient if the the EVA has large amounts of mapped virtual disk capacity...
c) some OSes are no longer supported from the 6110:
- Windows 2000 sp4
- Red Hat Linux RHEL 3.7
- Windows XP
d) dont forget to upgrade the EVA HDD firmware as well

Re: Firmware upgrade for EVA4000
Just to confirm, you only need the 5032 firmware, if you need to do an ONLINE upgrade of the code.
If you're happy doing an offline upgrade, then you can upgrade from 5031 to 5110, then up to one of the v6 releases using the links already provided.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Rob
