Re: HPUX Emulator

Well, you might be able to rip the guts out of a PC and stuff a workstation or a little A180 inside and power it up but otherwise the answer is no.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: HPUX Emulator

HP-UX has a reliability module that detects when it is running on top of an unstable and unsecure base. So even if you managed to port it over, HP-UX will shut itself down to prevent misunderstandings as to the reason there will now be a blue screen of death on a daily basis. (note smiley face) ;-)

Re: HPUX Emulator

Hi Guys,

As much as I'd love to jump in on this as well, I think this person may have left out a word in their post - terminal.

They may be looking for a terminal emulator that can act as an HP terminal that runs under winblows.

One I'm aware of is Reflection.

Rgds,
Jeff

If not & is actually looking for a way to run HP-UX in a Windows session, I certainly hope they don't succeed. The resulting matter/anti-matter explosion would annihilate the Solar System.

Re: HPUX Emulator

And just to amplify the terminal emulator theme. The best HP terminal emulator comes from WRQ (http://wrq.com). The Reflection name is actually a family of products. Reflection for HP is a local client ot replace telnet and Hyperterminal on a PC. Reflection/X is an Xwindows emulator (where terminal emulation is a small piece), and Reflection for the Web, a web-based terminal emulator.

Re: HPUX Emulator

Good one Jeff.

There are a number of products that bring Unix commands to the windows desktop. This is not an emulator, but it does fufill some areas where DOS is shall we say needy.

This is an example, though hardly the only way to go.

If the question is in the X client area, I'd go with Reflections or Hummingbird, though both have had their share of unstable releases.

If you are up for fun or trying to save money, there are a few free X-Client/Desktop programs out there, open source for Windows. Imagine that.

Re: HPUX Emulator

The only tool I know that will let you emulate unix is called Cygwin ( http://www.cygwin.com/ )
Installing this basically installs the linux terminal on windows. Works very well.

Re: HPUX Emulator

... But you *can* do it the other way round.
If you have to have windoze, you can run it on HP-UX under X-windows using Windows Terminal Server.
Search the M$ site ...
