How to compile 32-bit source code on IA64 machine?

Hi All.

I have RHEL 3.0 installed on IA64 machine

I am currently using gcc version 3.2.3

I would like to compile 32-bits sources.

What should I do?

[root@illnx64 root]# gcc -v

Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc-lib/ia64-redhat-linux/3.2.3/specs

Configured with: ../configure --prefix=/usr --mandir=/usr/share/man --infodir=/usr/share/info --enable-shared --enable-threads=posix

--disable-checking --with-system-zlib --enable-__cxa_atexit --host=ia64-redhat-linux Thread model: posix

gcc version 3.2.3 20030502 (Red Hat Linux 3.2.3-24)

Best Regards,

Re: How to compile 32-bit source code on IA64 machine?

I think you may have asked this in another forum? Short answer - you cannot create 32-bit native IPF (IA64) binaries under Linux, only HP-UX. 32-bit under Linux is x86 - a cross-compile and then an emulated binary.

Longer answer in that other forum.
