Installing HPUX 11.00 on Visualize C200

Hi!

I have 3 Visualize C200 workstations (2 on 10.20 and 1 on 11.00) I'm trying to do a fresh install of 11.00 on another box, but keep getting " the model 9000/782/C200+ is not supported on HPUX 11.00" error during analysis.

I'm using the same media as on the other C200 install that worked. p/n RCD1110

Maybe a firmware problem?

Thx!

Re: Installing HPUX 11.00 on Visualize C200

It's probably firmware. I would compare the firmware levels. The other thing that can cause install problems is the model string. Sometimes the wrong characters get embedded by your local HP Mr. Goodwrench (wrong case, spaces) and that will cause the installation software not to recognize your box. Compare the model strings between a "good" and "bad" box.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Thanks for your help!

I upgraded the firmware from 5.3 -> 6.3

Still no luck.

I compared the model strings with the 11.x box and they are identical (9000/782/C200+)

There are many versions of HP-UX 11.0 install media. You need something recent enough to support the model that you have. 11.0 was released in 1997, long before there was ever a C200. Use something from 2003 or 2004.

Re: Installing HPUX 11.00 on Visualize C200

Well.

I was able to find a '00 copy and installed it successfully. It doesn't explain why another box with identical h/w could use the older media, but at this point I don't care...

Thanks All!!
