Problem with scsi tape device files
Hello Everyone,
I have a server (RHEL5.4) which works with a Virtual Tape Library from Diligent, the connection between the server and the VLT is via a SAN network also via this SAN i work with a StorageTEK L700 with HP tapes LTO2.
On the vtl i have defined two libraries and a total of 128 tape devices.
When i do 'lsscsi' i get the following output:

It seems like there`s some sort of limit some place for the 'st' devices and no more than 128 devices are created...
any ideas how to increase this? so i will get /dev/st devices for the rest of the tapes...?
I do have another tape library there with the LTO2 tapes which i need to have st devices created for too.
i tried to use this in the modprobe.conf as the provider of the VTL sugested:
options scsi_mod dev_flags=ATL:P3000:0x200,QUANTUM:DLT7000:0x200 max_luns=256
and then i ran an mkinitrd and reboot... didnt help much...
i would appreciate any help!
I have a server (RHEL5.4) which works with a Virtual Tape Library from Diligent, the connection between the server and the VLT is via a SAN network also via this SAN i work with a StorageTEK L700 with HP tapes LTO2.

Re: Problem with scsi tape device files
The tape driver currently supports 128 drives by default. This number can be increased by editing st.h and recompiling the driver if necessary.
