Sendmail high cpu time
Hello everyone,
Sendmail on my K580 running 10:20 takes a high %cpu for a long period. I have sendmail 8.9.3 (PHNE_18979) installed on the server.
Can you pls explain this situation, for other servers don't have this problem.
Regards!

Re: Sendmail high cpu time
Hi,
What did you set as the interval (via the -q option of sendmail) to process saved messages in the queue? If this interval is set too little, there will be heavy resource utilisation.
Regards.
Steven Sim.

Re: Sendmail high cpu time
Steven thanks for you response.
The interval is 30minutes and is okay.
I have solved the problem, a check in the /etc/rc.log file should the following error message:
WARNING: Group writable directory /etc
WARNING: Group writable directory /etc/mail
hash map "Alias0": unsafe map file /etc/mail/aliases.db: Group writable directory
dbm map "Alias0": unsafe map file /etc/mail/aliases
Cannot create database for alias file /etc/mail/aliases
sendmail
I stopped sendmail daemon, changed the permissions on /etc to 555 and started send. Every thing is working fine, my back log of mails are coming now.
